Robots Running the Olympic Torch Relay

South Korea is a haven of scientific innovation and they've proven just that with an Olympic first for robot-kind.

For the first time ever in Olympic history, a robot has run with the iconic Olympic Torch as the relay made its way around South Korea.

The humanoid robot named Hubo took part in the 41st day of the relay as a part of the Information Technology themed leg.

Hubo also drove a car and cut out a section of a wall to pass the flame onto the next carrier.

Robotic scientists from The Korean Advanced Institute of Science and Technology took part in the relay, controlling a ride-on robot during one section of the relay.

The scientists said the display was to show the unlimited possibilities of robots.

The flame is expected to reach PyeongChang on the 8th of February in time for the 2018 Winter Olympics.
