Twenty20 Records That Blew Our Minds

Twenty20 cricket is iconic for fast-paced matches, spectacular scores, and amazing big hitting. The records are also remarkable, for good and bad reasons!

Here's our pick of the craziest T20 international records.

Biggest Match Flop by a Team

Traditionally known for outrageously high-scoring innings we looked the other way to find the lowest scoring innings in a T20 international match. The Netherlands took out this title with just 39 runs in 10.3 overs against Sri Lanka. Their run rate from the 2014 match was a measly 3.71.

They also took out another title in the same match: the shortest completed innings by balls. The Dutch were all out from a record 63 balls. Certainly makes you wonder if they even showed up at all ...

Highest scoring innings (Team)

Looking the other way the title of the highest scoring innings goes to Australia who walked away with a staggering 263/3 against Sri Lanka in 2016.

With a record-breaking highest run rate of 13.15 in a completed innings they certainly weren't holding back during this match!

Highest number of ducks in an innings

This embarrassing title goes to the Kenyan team who totaled six ducks in an innings against New Zealand in 2007.

They walked away with a total of 73 runs and half their team on the bench having not even broken a sweat.

Fastest Hundred

The fastest hundred from an individual goes to South African David Miller who smashed the previous record to score a T20 ton in just 35 balls.

Batting against Bangladesh in late 2017, Miller broke the record previously held by teammate Richard Levi who scored the second-fastest ton in 45 balls against New Zealand in 2012.

Most Runs in an Innings by an Individual

Aussie Aaron Finch smashed a whopping 156 runs off 63 balls against England in 2013.

Finch is an outstanding T20 batsman - in the same match he scored a record 14 sixes during his time at the crease, the most amount of sixes scored in a single innings by an individual.

Most Runs in a Single Over

This title goes to Yuvraj Singh of India who made an impressive 36 runs off an over bowled by Englishman Stuart Broad.

Smashing six sixes in a single over probably still has Broad stumped and no one has come close to that record since it was set in 2007.

Best Bowling Figures in an Inning

One bowler that caught our eye is Jeevan Mendis of Sri Lanka who holds the record of the best figures in an innings. Bowling against Zimbabwe in 2012, Mendis, in just four overs, took six wickets and bowled two maiden overs, conceding just eight runs.

It doesn't get much better than that!
