Bizarre Brain Fade Causes Runner to Miss Out On Medal
A wrong turn at the water jump almost certainly cost Kenyan Beatrice Chepkoech a medal At the World Athletics Championships.
26-year-old Chepkoech was two laps in to the 3000m steeplechase final when she bizarrely missed the turn off to the water jump. She continued around the 400m track until before realising what she had done.
She hurriedly back tracked to complete the jump, which left her 50 metres behind the pack.
Watch the video below:
Chepkoech quickly made up the ground, however it wasn't enough - she missed the medal by one place, finishing fourth overall.
In an eventful final, two runners fell in the next lap causing the athletes, including Australia's Genevieve LaCaze, to hurdle over them.
Those tumbles split the pack and LaCaze was left in the chasing group.
