The 94-year-old Cancer Survivor Breaking World Records

Cancer survivor Harriette Thompson is the oldest woman in the world to complete a half marathon.

Harriette, 94, also holds the world record for being the oldest woman to complete a full marathon, which she completed at the ripe old age of 92.

She only started running at 76 and has been traveling to San Diego for over 17 years to participate in the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon.

Not only that, Harriette has run the San Diego Race for Leukemia and Lymphoma over 16 times, and only missed it once since 1999 when she was battling jaw and skin cancer in 2013.

She has admitted that it’s not the world records that keep her running, it’s the money she has raised towards cancer research.

“I want to thank everybody who was so generous and gave me money. I made quite a bit this year, for leukemia and lymphoma, and that’s the whole reason I’m running,” Harriette told Fox5 News.

To date Harriette has raised more than $115,000 USD running marathons for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
