One Bad Decision Almost Changed The Life Of This Star Athlete

Anthony Joshua is no stranger to being on the wrong side of the law.

In 2009, Joshua’s one and only defeat as an amateur came as he was wearing an electronic tag on his ankle.

The final straw came in 2011 when Joshua pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply a class B drug, risking his entry to the London Olympic games and his entire boxing career. Although this offence is punishable with a maximum penalty of 14 years in jail, Joshua was lucky to get away with a 12-month community order and forced to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work.

He was suspended by Team Great Britain, which was his turning point. He decided to take boxing more seriously and forget his past habits. Boxing helped turn his life around, giving him the discipline he needed, as well as a focus on his physique and desire to fight.

Anthony is now one of the world’s top heavyweight boxers and is undefeated with 19 wins. He was in peak physical condition for his fight against Wladimir Klitschko where he retained his IBF title and claimed the WBA and IBO heavyweight titles with a technical knockout in the eleventh round.

90,000 people attended the fight, a post-war record in England, and it also set a new pay-per-view record for the UK with 1.5 million.

Joshua’s Instagram is known for being filled with his gruelling workouts and training. Have a look at how far he’s come.
